Deleting your account
GameDay Huddle
How to delete your GameDay Huddle account, what happens when you do, what is kept and why, and how to undo it. You can do all of this from inside the app; this page is here so you can read it first, without installing anything.
1. How to delete it
- In the app: open More, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete my account.
- On the web: sign in, open your account page, and open Delete my account there.
- Either way you will be asked to type the word
DELETEin capitals to confirm. You may also say why, but you do not have to.
You must be signed in, because the account being deleted is the one you are signed in as. There is no form in which somebody who is not signed in types an email address and deletes the account behind it. If you cannot sign in, write to us: we will verify your identity and help you get back in, so that you can delete the account yourself.
If you hold a staff role at a club, the deletion is refused until you hand that role to somebody else. A club must not lose its President to a tap.
2. What happens when you do
- Your account is scheduled for deletion. Nothing is destroyed that day.
- You are signed out, and the account stops working everywhere — every screen, every club, every notification.
- Your links to your children are ended, so the clubs stop seeing you as a contact for them.
- If you were a child’s last guardian on file, the club is told so, so somebody can reach your family. The notification it receives is a count and names no child; the child is then listed by name on the club’s own retention screen, to the staff there who may already see that child’s record.
- The account is kept for 30 days. At the end of that window it is destroyed, piece by piece, as below.
3. Changing your mind
Sign in again inside the 30 days and press “Cancel deletion”. That is the whole of it — nothing else is needed, and nothing was lost in the meantime. Only you can do this: there is no club and no member of GameDay Huddle’s staff who can cancel a deletion on your behalf.
Once the 30 days have passed it cannot be undone, by you or by anybody else.
4. What is destroyed after 30 days
- Your name, your email address, your phone number and the record that your email was verified are erased from your account.
- The things that belong to you alone go with it: your devices and notification settings, your notifications, your calendar links, your reactions, read markers, mutes and blocks, and your own files.
- Every message you sent in team chat is emptied — the text and your name both go. The place in the conversation stays, saying nothing, so the thread around it still reads.
- Your sign-in at Microsoft is neutralised before the record of it here is removed: the sign-in is disabled, every session is revoked, and the email address it signs in with is changed to one at a domain nobody can receive mail at.
The disabled Microsoft directory entry that remains is not an active account. It cannot be used to sign in, cannot receive mail and cannot be recovered by GameDay Huddle. It is kept in that disabled state rather than deleted, and Microsoft’s own record that sign-ins happened is Microsoft’s, kept under Microsoft’s terms.
5. What is kept, and why
Your children’s records are not deleted by deleting your account. A child’s record belongs to the club they registered with — the club decides what it holds and for how long, and GameDay Huddle holds it on the club’s instruction. Deleting your account removes you from it; it does not remove the child from the club. To have a child’s record deleted, ask the club.
Your clubs keep their registration and payment records. Deleting an account does not undo a registration, does not cancel a place and does not refund money. What is kept is the accounting record — the amount, the currency, what it was for and when — and it carries no health information and no emergency contact.
Two names are kept with it. The registration line keeps the child’s name as it was typed, so the club’s books can say which child the payment was for; a waiver your family signed keeps the child’s name, the name the adult typed and the relationship they stated, so the waiver stays legible as a legal record. They are kept for those accounting and legal-record purposes, and today nothing ends them: deleting your account does not remove either, and neither does the 30 days passing. If you want a child’s record dealt with, that is the club’s to decide — ask them.
The record of what was done is kept for seven years. It says that an act happened and who did it; the personal detail inside it is erased with the rest when your account is destroyed. If a record is under a legal hold, nothing about it is destroyed until the hold is released.
6. When the deletion is complete
When the 30 days end, the account is destroyed and can no longer be signed into. Until then, signing in shows that it is scheduled for deletion and the day until which you can cancel it. We do not send a confirmation when the deletion is complete.
7. If you cannot sign in
Write to support@gamedayhuddle.com. After verifying your identity, we can help you get back into your account so that you can delete it yourself. We cannot delete it for you — there is deliberately no button on our side that deletes a person’s account, so that nobody at GameDay Huddle can remove somebody from the platform.
